YOU WILL NEED:

SEWING MACHINE - not necessary but appreciated! If you have a working machine you can bring from home, this is helpful. Please fill out the form below to let us know if you will be brining a machine or need to borrow one, thanks.

3 YARDS OF FABRIC.

We recommend using fabrics with a nice drape. You don't want anything too heavy or too light, and ultimately it will hang nicely on the body.

If you are new to sewing, some suggestions would be medium weight linen, double gauze and cottons like chambray and voile.

If you want a little more drape and swish, soft fluid fabrics like rayon challis, chiffon, charmeuse, and tencel are nice, however, some of these can be tricker to work with so keep this in mind when choosing.

If you aren't sure just ask a fabric store employee to help out - let them know you are making a kaftan and see what they might suggest. Also feel free to reach out directly to us if you have any questions on fabric.

**if you have a fabric that you love but it is not long enough, you could use it for the front and use a different fabric for the back, as an idea. You will generally want 1.5 yards for the front and 1.5 for the back, but length can be customized to your liking.

Some local fabric stores we love: Mill End, Bolt, Modern Domestic, Josephine's.

Light snacks and wine will be provided.
